OE framework applications
There are three ways that the OE framework can be used:
- OE Analysis
- OE Strategy
- OE Design.
OE Analysis
OE Analysis provides tools for analysing past events and understanding how they have arisen as a result of the behaviour of competing actors:
- the ODR cycle is used to understand how actors came to their decisions
- the FMORB model is used to break down the components that shape how actors think and act, namely Frames, Models and Operational Resources and how they are translated into Behaviour
- the evolutionary dynamics model is used to understand the selection environment that helped determine the outcomes that arose.
OE Strategy
OE Strategy provides tools for understanding the current situation and designing strategies for the future. Based on the decision-making ODR cycle, it also uses the FMORB model to analyse both the internal and external environments.
OE Design
OE Design provides tools for designing systems that enable better outcomes to be produced in the future.
To start off with, I’ve identified 11 principles that can enable systems to improve the outcomes they produce.
